Attend at least 75% of the class sessions held in each of the two seminary terms. Attendance below 75% can be made up by the student completing makeup lessons (see Makeup Lessons tab);
Read the minimum reading requirement for the course of study (see Reading tab); and
Complete at least one Assess Your Learning lesson each seminary term. In 2026 there are two Assess Your Learning lesson each seminary term - Term 1 (Weeks 7 and 15) and Term 2 (Weeks 28 and 31).
(Note: Parents can track their child’s attendance, reading and completion of Assess Your Learning lessons via the mySeminary resource on the parent’s church account - visit www.myseminary.churchofjesuschrist.org)
Earn four Certificates of Completion (i.e. all 8 terms of seminary, 2 terms per year generally completed over 4 years). Makeup work is available for students who have not met these requirements (see Makeup Lessons tab); and
Receive Ecclesiastical Endorsement from a bishopric member. This endorsement verifies that a student is worthy and committed to living the standards of the gospel. The bishop or one of his counsellors may complete these endorsements as part of regularly scheduled interviews. These interviews should be conducted early enough before end-of-year seminary graduation to allow students time to work with the bishop to resolve any issues. A bishop may request additional time beyond seminary graduation to resolve worthiness issues, in which case the student's Seminary Diploma provided by S&I is given to the bishop to award privately to the student when appropriate.
