Invite a Friend Week
Invite a Friend Week: Seminary Teachers and Students to "Invite a Friend" to Seminary!
All are encouraged to "Invite a Friend" to seminary this week to participate in spiritually fun lessons and activities that help emphasize, understand and apply doctrines and principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
Moses 8 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Seek to know students—understand their circumstances, needs, and strengths.
Students are more willing to learn from someone who they know cares about them. Additionally, when we strive to get to know students with love, we can be inspired about how to best help them find personal meaning and power in the Savior and His gospel. An example of how seeking to understand students can influence our teaching can be found in Lesson 19: “Moses 8.” To learn more, see “The Savior Knows Us and Understands Our Circumstances, Needs, and Strengths” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 13).
Abraham 2:9-11 (Doctrinal Mastery Scripture) (See below teaching tip)
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on Moses 1:39, Moses 7:18 and Abraham 2:9-11 instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
TEACHING TIP: Help learners seek, recognize, and act on personal revelation.
Teachers can help students recognize and act on inspiration from the Holy Ghost. One way to do this is to ask questions that help students act on personal revelation. The Savior also helped learners to act on revelation by asking them questions. An example of how to help others act on revelation can be found in Lesson 24: “Abraham 2:9–11.” To learn more, see “The Savior Helped Others Seek, Recognize, and Act on Personal Revelation” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 18).
Genesis 15-18 and 21 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Focus on truths that lead to conversion and build faith in Jesus Christ.
When teachers help students state converting principles in their own words, it can deepen their understanding of the scriptures and the words of the prophets. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 25: “Genesis 15–18, 21.” To learn more, see “The Savior Taught Truths That Lead to Conversion and Build Faith” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 22).
Genesis 28 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Encourage learners to share the truths they are learning.
Inviting students to share with each other what they are learning can help them feel an increased confidence in class. To learn more, see “The Savior Encouraged Others to Share the Truths They Were Learning” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way p. 26). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 31: “Genesis 28.”
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on Abraham 3: 22-23, Genesis 1:26-27 and Genesis 2:24 instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
TEACHING TIP: Help learners recognize the Lord’s love, power, and mercy in their lives.
Helping students recognize what the Lord has done for them can help them exercise faith in Him. An example of how to do this is in Lesson 18: “Moses 7:53–69.” To learn more, see “Help Learners Recognize the Lord’s Love, Power, and Mercy in Their Lives” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 8).
ASSESS YOUR LEARNING LESSON
TEACHING TIP: Find appropriate ways to express your love.
When the people you teach feel your love, they are more likely to also feel the Savior’s love for them as you teach. The Savior always looked for unique and personal ways to help the people He taught feel His love. To learn more, see “The Savior Expressed His Love for Those He Taught” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 14–15).
Look for opportunities this week to appropriately express your love for your students. One way you could do this is to send a message to a few students’ parents sharing something positive you have noticed about their child. (For additional training, see “Find appropriate ways to express your love” in Teacher Development Skills.)
TEACHING TIP: The Savior was always ready to respond to the needs of learners.
Your students come to you from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances. Striving to meet the needs of your students can help you teach like the Savior. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 40: “Exodus 5–6.” To learn more about this, see “The Savior Was Always Ready to Respond to the Needs of Others” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 17).
Good Friday (Friday 3 April)
LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL TERM 1
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on Genesis 39:9, Exodus 20:3-17, Joshua 24:15 instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
Exodus 12-13, Part 2 (See below teaching tip)
(Alternatively, teach one or both of the following lessons: The Living Christ, Part 1 and/or The Living Christ, Part 2.)
TEACHING TIP: Help students find personal meaning in the doctrine you teach.
Helping students recognize the personal relevance of the Savior’s doctrine can help what they learn feel meaningful and useful. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 43: “Exodus 12–13, Part 2.” To learn more, see “The Savior Helped People Find Personal Relevance in His Doctrine” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 23).
School Holiday Break | 6 April - 19 April
Exodus 24, 32-34 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Help learners recognize the Lord’s love, power, and mercy in their lives.
Not only do we need to know about the Lord’s love, power, and mercy, but we also need to experience it. As you teach, look for opportunities to help learners recognize the Lord’s love, power, and mercy. Help them recognize examples in the scriptures and experiences in their own lives. Drawing learners’ attention to the Lord’s love, power, and mercy will help them understand and feel how the Lord can bless and help them. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 51: “Exodus 24; 31–34.” To learn more, see “Help Learners Recognize the Lord’s Love, Power, and Mercy in Their Lives” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 8).
ANZAC Day (Observed Monday 27 April)
Exodus 25; 35-40 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Look for symbols that testify of Jesus Christ.
As you study this week’s materials with your students, look for powerful symbolism that testifies of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Give students opportunities to learn from the Holy Ghost as they reflect on what these symbols can represent. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 52: “Exodus 25; 35–40.” To learn more, see “Look for Symbols That Testify of Jesus Christ” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 7).
INVITE A FRIEND WEEK

Numbers 21 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Bear testimony often, and invite learners to share their feelings, experiences, and testimonies.
As students share their feelings, experiences, and testimonies, the Holy Ghost will bear witness of the truth of what they are saying, both to their own minds and hearts as well as to others. To learn more about the power of sharing testimony, see “The Savior Bore Testimony to Those He Taught” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, p. 18). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 57: “Numbers 21.”
Deuteronomy 15 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Teach from the scriptures and words of latter-day prophets.
When teachings are based on the scriptures and words of latter-day prophets, students are more likely to feel the Holy Ghost testify of the truths they are learning. For more on how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Taught from the Scriptures” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, p. 21). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 60: “Deuteronomy 15.”
Joshua 1 (See below teaching tip)
Developing Healthy Thinking Patterns
TEACHING TIP: Encourage learners to come to know the Savior by studying the gospel daily.
Scripture study gives us a chance to hear the Savior’s voice. The invitation to read the scriptures is an invitation to come to know Jesus Christ. As you teach your students about scripture study, encourage them to not only find what the scriptures teach about the Savior but to find Him. To learn more, see “The Savior Encouraged Others to Come to Know Him by Studying His Word” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 25). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 61: “Joshua 1.”

Judges 2-4 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Help Learners Strengthen Their Relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
Helping students recognize the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in their lives will strengthen their connection to Them. To learn more, see “Help Learners Strengthen Their Relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ” in Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 9. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 65: “Judges 2–4.”
PUBLIC HOLIDAY: King's Birthday (Monday 1 June)
TEACHING TIP: Prepare yourself spiritually.
When teachers humbly prepare themselves and the learning activities for their students, the Holy Ghost can guide their preparation. For more on how the Savior prepared Himself to teach, see “The Savior Prepared Himself Spiritually to Teach” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 16–17).
For training on inviting the Spirit to refine your preparations to teach, see the skill “Use the document ‘Improving as a Christlike Teacher—A Personal Evaluation’ to invite the Holy Ghost to help you refine your preparations to teach” in Teacher Development Skills.
1 Samuel 17 (See below teaching tip)
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on Isaiah 5:20, Isaiah 29:13-14 and Isaiah 53:3-5 instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 74: “1 Samuel 17.”
TEACHING TIP: Invite learners to live what they are learning.
As students learn the Savior’s gospel, the Holy Ghost can help them recognize adjustments they need to make. Invitations to review the goals they have set previously can also help students see how they are progressing and make needed corrections. For more on how the Savior did this, see the section “The Savior Invited Others to Live What He Taught” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, 26).
LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL TERM 2
TEACHING TIP: Observe Christlike attributes in students.
In our efforts to help students become more like Jesus Christ, pointing out Christlike attributes we see in them can help them see the great progress they are already making. An example of this skill is found in Lesson 82: “1 Kings 18.” For other ideas on how to receive inspiration to help students become more like Jesus Christ, see “Help Learners Intentionally Strive to Be More like Jesus Christ” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 9).
Seminary Term 1 Ends
School Holiday Break | 6 July - 19 July
Closure of Term 1 in WISE
Your access to WISE Term 1 will end at 9:00am on Friday 17 July 2026 (i.e. the last day of the school holidays). After this time you won't be able to update Term 1 attendance/makeup work in WISE.
To help with the smooth closure of Term 1, please note:
From the beginning of June 2026, please tell your students and parents that any makeup work, including Assess Your Learning lessons and updates on meeting the reading requirements, for Term 1 need to be with you the teacher by Friday 27 June 2025 for teachers to mark/confirm and update WISE over the weekend 28-29 June 2025.
If a student gives you Term 1 makeup work late after 30 June 2025, teachers are to submit that makeup work as soon as possible to their Stake Seminary Supervisor (or if there isn't one to your High Councilor over seminary) who will then advise our office the total number of days made up.
- Our office will update the student’s records in WISE to reflect completion of makeup work.
Seminary Term 2 Starts
20 July - 23 October
INVITE A FRIEND WEEK
INVITE A FRIEND WEEK: Seminary Teachers and Students to "Invite a Friend" to Seminary!
All are encouraged to "Invite a Friend" to seminary this week to participate in spiritually fun lessons and activities that help emphasize, understand and apply doctrines and principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
2 Chronicles 17-20 (See below teaching tip)
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on Isaiah 58:6-7, Isaiah 58:23-14 and Jeremiah 1:4-5 instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
TEACHING TIP: Encourage learners to come to know the Savior by studying the gospel daily.
Studying the Lord’s word every day in the scriptures is foundational to a lifetime of diligent, independent gospel learning. One way to encourage daily study is to ask questions that help learners connect their personal and family scripture study to the classroom experience. An example of this is found in Lesson 91: “2 Chronicles 17–20.” To learn more, see “The Savior Encouraged Others to Come to Know Him by Studying His Word” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 25).
TEACHING TIP: Pray for your students by name.
Praying for your students by name can help prepare you to receive inspiration to better help individuals in your class come closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. To learn more, see “The Savior Prayed for Those He Taught” in Teaching in the Savior’s Way. For additional training, see “Pray for them by name” in the Teacher Development Skills.
Esther, Part 2 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Emphasize the example of Jesus Christ.
As we strive to live the Savior’s gospel, we are not simply following principles; we are following Jesus Christ. He is the perfect example of all gospel principles. When we focus on the Savior’s perfect example, we give the Holy Ghost an opportunity to testify of Jesus Christ and inspire your students to follow Him. To learn more, see “Emphasize the Example of Jesus Christ” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, 6). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 95: “Esther, Part 2.”
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on Ezekiel 3:16-17, Ezekiel 37:15-17 and Daniel 2:44-45 instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
TEACHING TIP: Seek to know students—understand their circumstances, needs, and strengths.
When students feel that their teacher genuinely cares about them, they are more likely to come to class ready to learn and share their insights and experiences. Look for opportunities to ask students about their interests before, during, or after class. You can ask questions about items students bring to class or activities they are involved in. For more on how the Savior made connections, see “The Savior Knows Us and Understands Our Circumstances, Needs, and Strengths” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 13). For additional training on observing and asking about students’ interests, see “Seek to know them—understand their circumstances, needs, and strengths.”
Introduction to Psalms, Part 1 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Create settings and opportunities for learners to be taught by the Holy Ghost.
Inspirational music can invite the influence of the Holy Ghost and create a feeling of reverence in class. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 100: “Introduction to Psalms, Part 1.” To learn more about helping learners be taught by the Holy Ghost, see “The Savior Provided Opportunities for People to Be Taught by the Holy Ghost” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, p. 17–18).
Psalms 61-86 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Teach the Doctrine.
When the Savior taught using parables, He allowed the learner to connect with different parts of the story. This helped learners find personal relevance in His teachings. When we teach the Savior’s doctrine, we can help students find personal relevance in what they are learning. One way we can do this is by helping students consider their personal circumstances as they study the scriptures. To learn more, see “The Savior Helped People Find Personal Relevance in His Doctrine” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, 23). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 105: “Psalms 61–86.”
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on Amos 3:7, Malachi 3:8-10 and Malachi 4:5-6 instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
Psalm 119 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Invite learners to prepare to learn.
Spiritual preparation matters—for you and for the people you teach. When visiting the Americas, the Savior told the multitude, “Go ye unto your homes, and … prepare your minds for the morrow” (3 Nephi 17:3). Look for ways you can follow the Savior’s example and encourage your students to prepare to learn in seminary. To learn more about how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Invited Others to Prepare to Learn” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 25). An example of preparing students to learn can be found in the student preparation for Lesson 107: “Psalm 119”.
ASSESS YOUR LEARNING LESSON
TEACHING TIP: Emphasize the example of Jesus Christ.
As we strive to live the Savior’s gospel, we are not simply following principles—we are following Him. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of all gospel principles. Focusing on His example will give the Holy Ghost an opportunity to testify of the Savior and inspire your students to follow Him. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 109: “Introduction to Proverbs.” To learn more, see “Emphasize the Example of Jesus Christ” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, [2016] 6).
TEACHING TIP: Love those you teach—Seek to clarify and understand the real intent of students’ questions, feelings, and beliefs.
As students ask questions and make comments in class, it can be helpful to clarify and understand their feelings and beliefs, looking for the real intent of their questions. After students ask questions or make comments, one way to do this is to thank them and ask clarifying questions, seeking to understand what they might be wondering or worrying about.
For additional training on how seek to clarify and understand the real intent of students’ questions, feelings, and beliefs see: “Seek to know your students—understand their circumstances, needs, and strengths,” in Teacher Development Skills.
For more on how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Knows Us and Understands Our Circumstances, Needs, and Strengths,” Teaching in the Savior’s Way (2022), 13.
LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL TERM 3
(Alternatively, if your students are using the Doctrinal Mastery Workbook have them focus on all 24 Doctrinal Mastery instead of teaching the above lesson, or you could do a mix of both lesson and workbook)
TEACHING TIP: We can follow His example.
If you are spiritually prepared, you will be better able to hear and follow the guidance of the Spirit as you teach. To learn more of how the Savior prepared Himself spiritually, see “The Savior Prepared Himself Spiritually to Teach” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 16). The following activity can help you prepare spiritually. It will help you evaluate ways you are already applying principles of Christlike teaching, as well as help you make a goal for incremental improvements. See “Improving as a Christlike Teacher—A Personal Evaluation” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 37).

Isaiah 61 (See below teaching tip)
TEACHING TIP: Help learners recognize the Lord’s love, power, and mercy in their lives.
It is good to know about the Savior’s love, power, and mercy, but we also need to realize ways we have experienced them. Inviting students to reflect on personal experiences when they have seen the Lord’s love, power, and mercy can help them feel closer to Him. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 128: “Isaiah 61.” To learn more, see “Help learners recognize the Lord’s love, power, and mercy in their lives” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 8).
LAST WEEK OF SEMINARY
TESTIMONY MEETING
TEACHING TIP: Create settings and opportunities for learners to be taught by the Holy Ghost.
When students consider their own experiences and personal feelings about gospel truths, they will be more likely to feel the Holy Ghost testify of the truths they are learning. For more on how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Provided Opportunities for People to Be Taught by the Holy Ghost” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 17–18).
End of Seminary 2026
Thank you Teachers & Supervisors 🌼
Closure of Term 2 in WISE
Teachers’ access to WISE will close at 9:00am on Tuesday 27th October 2026 as we need to close the Term to prepare for graduation. After this time teachers will no longer be able to update Term 2 attendance/make up work etc. in WISE.
To help with the smooth closure of Term 2, please note:
From the beginning of October 2026, teachers and leaders are to advise students and their parents to have all makeup work, including Assess Your Learning lessons and updates on meeting the reading requirements, to teachers no later than Friday 23rd October 2026 for teachers to mark/confirm and update WISE over the weekend 24-25th October 2025.
If students complete make up work after 27th October 2026, teachers are to submit that makeup work as soon as possible to their Stake Seminary Supervisor who will then advise our office the total number of days made up.
The student’s records will eventually be updated in WISE to reflect completion of makeup work but, while we will do our best, we cannot guarantee that we will have capacity to reflect that completed work in a student’s records in time for your Stake’s seminary graduation. Please bear in mind we will be preparing final records and awards for seminary and institute graduations in multiple Stakes/Districts – hence the encouragement to advise students and parents to have all makeup work to teachers no later than Friday 23rd October 2026. Thank you.
